My belief

It is my belief that an artist will ALWAYS have at least one good song to their name.

Just because I feel like it.....

I am going to post an essay I wrote on Chris Angel some time a month or two ago. (With some slight fixings)

"Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called "The Pledge". The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course... it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn". The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige."
-Cutter
The Prestige

This is the opening line for the book and movie The Prestige. For all those who watched it, you know how this follows with the story. For those who have not, don’t skim through that part.
One of the main characters, Angrier, is performing a trick that involves using what seems to be a hollow, dome shaped tesla coil (Tesla actually made it.) He first performs “The Pledge”, giving an introduction to his trick. He then turns it on, which creates a storm of electricity inside the dome. He walks in, which appears to be suicidal, but miraculously, he isn’t even phased by the volts zapping all over him. This is the time where he performs “The Turn” which involves him miraculously disappearing in a flash of light. But, the crowd wants more, “because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back.” From atop a balcony, a voice shouts. Everyone looks up, and there stands Angrier. This is the final part. The part any good trick can’t go without. He preformed what is called, “The Prestige”.
Why is the prestige so important? It’s the part of the trick that wins your audience over. It’s very cheap to make a card or a dove disappear and not bring it back. The prestige is what will make your trick both mysterious and magical. This brings me to the point of this essay. Chris Angel, the Mindfreak, does not understand the concept of a prestige too well. He makes a car disappear but he doesn't bring it back. He saws a lady in half but doesn’t put her back together again. He does something amazing but he doesn't perform too many prestiges. Yes he occasionally makes a necklace disappear and then brings it back in through the workings of a gumball machine. But that to seems cheesy and it’s with something small. I want to see something BIG reappear. I want him to bring that car back. If he can’t do that, I’d at least like to see him put the lady back together. Let me give you an example.
In season six of the show Mindfreak, he made 100 people, at random, disappear. He shackled them up in an alternating order of sitting and standing. The platform that they were on was completely exposed, cameras were everywhere, people were shackled around the platform, there was an SPOV camera, and even a POV camera for Chris Angel. So there was no possible way Chris Angel could do something sneaky. He pulled a cover over the 100 people, put them under hypnosis, and pulled the camera up to his face- wait, to his face? That’s cheap! But anyway he drops the cover and everyone is gone! It’s an amazing feat of magic, a world record even! That’s in fact what the setup was for, the Guinness Book of World Records! Wow! Not only does Chris Angel perform the trick of the year, he wins the award for most vanished people in an illusion! Amazing! But wait, where did the 100 people go? Is he going to bring them back, or are they just going to emerge from the back door? Where is the prestige? This trick was very cool, but without that prestige, it’s almost nothing. Besides, if he were to bring them back, it would be like winning two world records. Chris Angel is always saying that he pushes himself all the time, but when he doesn't perform the prestige, that creates a lie of what he said. I hope he will come to realize this and do better in the future.

FINALLY!!!!!

I now know which song I want to write about. In order to write about a song, I have to "feel" it. Now that I have, I will post it tomorrow after school. It will be a surprise until then.

Songs that stand out as different (To me at least.)

This is a list of songs that stand out to me for an infinite amount of reasons.

"I Got the Magic" by B.o.B. featuring Rivers Cuomo.
This is a fun song because of it's beat, lyrics, and positive feel. Simply put, this song is about being extraordinary. It has Weezer's front-man Rivers Cuomo singing the chorus. The amazing thing about the song is is that it's a rap song. Yes, a Rap song. It has slight hip-hop feel, but it's rap. It doesn't swear, talk about sex, drinking, drugs, or anything else immoral.

"Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva.

This hard rock song is very original in my opinion. The singer is an announcer introducing everyone to the show they're about to see. I first heard this song in illusionist show, so I imagine the show being just that. But the music video shows two woman in there undergarments boxing. Not only is that inappropriate, it's a TERRIBLE interpretation of the song. So, except for the music video, this song is clean and very creative. Seriously, it doesn't talk about immorality. Amazing!

"Chicken Fried" by Zac Brown Band.

This is a country song about loving life and freedom. It's very enjoyable.

"Where the Boat Leaves From" by Zac Brown Band.

Another song that I love by this band. It talks about relaxing and not worrying about life. It's like a vacation song.

"Pyromania" by Cascada.

Excerpt from Wikipedia-
A type of impulse control disorder, pyromania is an impulse to deliberately start fires to relieve tension and typically includes feelings of gratification or relief afterward. The term pyromania comes from the Greek word pyr (fire). Pyromania is distinct from arson, and pyromaniacs are also distinct from those who start fires because of psychosis, for personal, monetary or political gain, or for acts of revenge. Pyromaniacs start fires to induce euphoria, and often fixate on institutions of fire control like fire stations and firefighters.

The singer is talking about being a pyromaniac and all about her impulse.

I'll post more on later. Listen to these, before I do, THEY ARE AWESOME!!

Begin the purging!

I am going to be deleting songs off my ipod so that my selection of music will be cleaner. So far, I only know of one song that needs to go. It's called "Rite of Spring" by Angels and Airwaves. It's not a crappy song in meaning, but it swears, so off it goes.

Improvements

As you can see, I have made improvements to my blog by adding a search bar, poll, and Q&A. That's all I have to say about that.

YAAAA!

Yesterday was my birthday! To celebrate, we got pizza and watched the movie Salt. The different details in the story were kinda confusing at first, but it soon made sense. We also feasted on homemade chocolate-filled caramels and chocolate & caramel rice krispies. Which were like eating heaven!
I got two presents. One was a cannon that my cousin made for me. First, you stuff a projectile down one of the three interchangeable tubes. Then, you twist the cap on the other side open and spray some Glade Air Freshener in. And last, after the cap is back on, you twist the sparker until it ignites and explodes. This sends the projectile flying through the air. It's quite cool!
I also got a yellow parakeet. Yaaaay! It's a yellow male. I named him Brandon. We were talking about what I should name him and my mom suggested a singer. The first one that came to my head was Brandon Flowers and the name just stuck. He's quite territorial. He tries to bite you when you touch his cage. He's so cute!

I have a request.

I know some of you have been reading my posts and commenting on them. I thank you for that. But for those of you who haven't been, please do, it's appreciated. Also, could you recommend my blog to other people?
Also, look back to previous posts, you might have missed something. I post quite often.

Lyric interpretations- Walk on the Water

This is most inspirational song I have ever heard. It fills my soul with hope and redemption. Whenever I feel like life is hopeless, I turn on this song and know that life is just bursting with hope. It sends shivers throughout my whole body, which is a good sign. This song even made me cry with joy. Cry. I don't cry very often. That just proves it. THIS SONG HAS SPIRITUAL WORTH.  Anyone who listens to this song and doesn't find it's lyrics any good is not listening with spiritual ears. Or maybe they just have no need to get it. They might not be able to relate it to there life. But anyway, this is an awesome song. As an added bonus, it doesn't swear, make any references to sex, and it actually has a good beat and tune to it.

This song has a back beat that is similar to slow hip-hop. It has both acoustic and electric guitars in it, a synthesizer, and a back melody played by a piano, which is heard at the beginning. This song was written by
Josh Crosby, Dan Muckala, and Brittany Nicole Weddell, also known as Britt Nicole. Although I don't know the first two are, since they're associated with tis song, I'm going to assume that they're awesome like Britt Nicole.

The meaning of this song is quite clear, just like Freewill, but I like Walk on the Water WAAAAAAAAY more than than that song, so I'm going to interpret EVERY SINGLE LINE this time. (Plus, Britt isn't atheist, so the meaning is more clear. Thanks Adrian.)

Before listening to this, here is an interview and a video that gives Britt's view on the song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAFup_5dPa
If your a little to lazy to read and watch these, she said her song is basically about "a strong faith." It can be have many situations related to it, but I guarantee that it's all surrounded by faith. And if you decide to actually listen to this song, which would definitely make me happy, listen to the acoustic version as well. Although her song is already amazing, the acoustic version is EPIC. When I listened to this song for the first time, the spirit swept over me like a tidal-wave. I can testify that this song and many of her other songs really do have spiritual power, just like a hymn.
So, without any more chit-chat, I give you, the interpretation.

You look around, staring back at you
Another wave of doubt, will it pull you under? You wonder

<(I'm doubting something, such as repentance. Can I really repent? Is it possible? Is this doubt really going to win over me? Is Satan going to win over me?)>

What if I'm overtaken? What if I never make it?
What if no one's there? Will You hear my prayer?

<(Again, what if Satan wins my soul? What if I never can make it to Heaven? What if no one is there to help me? I then ask God, will you hear and answer me? Will you help me and forgive me for what I've done?)>
When you take that first step into the unknown

You know that He won't let you go

<(When I finally do decide to act and repent, God will be with me every step of the way. I know that He won't let me go because he's been holding on since day 1. The unknown is the seemingly uncertain future. What's going to happen to me? what's everyone going to think of me? Those and many other questions zip through my head. Most of the time, especially with the latter question, the answer I come up with is negative.)>

So what are you waiting for? What do you have to lose?

Your insecurities, they try to hold to you

<(If I know that God is always with you, why do I not act? Redemption is staring at me right in the face, yet I do nothing. In order for me to do what needs to be done, I need to stop doubting. The insecurities refer to the answers to the questions I asked, such as "everyone is going to avoid me and they're going to be bitter towards me. I know that that is not true. Yes, there may be a few that will act like this, but I know my family will just love me even more if I repent. These doubts and insecurities are holding me back and I need to get rid of them.)>

But you know you're made for more, so don't be afraid to move
Your faith is all it takes, and you can walk on the water, too

<(I am more than Satan. I was put upon this Earth for a purpose. I am a child of God. I Am Andrew Michael Ball. I am not my addiction, I am an agent of God. My addiction is holding me back, but I know who I am and that alone should cause me to fear no more. If I have faith in God, I can do anything, even the impossible. Walking on the Water refers to doing something impossible or something extraordinary. Paul walked on the water with Christ, but as soon as he began to doubt and lose faith, he started to sink. Luckily, Christ was there to help him back up. This is what my life is like. I fell, but Christ is there to help me back up again and again do extraordinary to impossible things.)>

So get out, and let your fear fall to the ground
No time to waste, don't wait, and don't you turn around and miss out
On everything you were made for, I know you're not sure
So you play it safe, you try to run away

<(This is saying, if all of this is true, then go out and repent. Fear Not of the future. Every second that I wast are seconds wasted of my life. I shouldn't be turning my back on God and missing out on life and the things I was made for. There are people who are lost in life, and I can't find them if I don't repent. She's saying that I'm not sure of what's going to happen, so I'm doing nothing to change. I'm trying to run away from what needs to be done, much like Jonah.

If you take that first step into the unknown
He won't let you go

So what are you waiting for? What do you have to lose?
Your insecurities, they try to hold to you
But you know you're made for more, so don't be afraid to move
Your faith is all it takes, and you can walk on the water, too

<(These next lines below take the cake. It's a plead to step out even when all is against you.)>

Step out, even when it's storming

Step out, even when you're broken
Step out, even when your heart is telling you
Telling you to give up

<(When it seems like all of Hell is about to win and your spirit is exhausted from fighting, when you're spiritually defeated in battle and you feel as if you can't win. When your heart is telling you to stop and keep trying to win, DON'T GIVE UP. REPENT AND KEEP FIGHTING. STOP LISTENING TO YOUR HEART AND LISTEN TO YOUR SOUL, CAUSE THAT'S WHERE GOD WILL SPEAK TO YOU. I KNOW I HAVE BEEN SPEAKING ABOUT MYSELF FOR AWHILE, BUT RIGHT NOW, I CAN TESTIFY THAT NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN LIFE, THIS APPLIES TO EVERYONE.

Step out, when your hope is stolen
Step out, you can't see where you're going
You don't have to be afraid

<(You NEVER have to be afraid, because God will NEVER leave you. Even when you have lost all hope and the future is uncertain, NEVER BE AFRAID.)>

So what are you waiting, what are you waiting for?
What do you have to lose?
Your insecurities try to hold to you
You know you're made for more, so don't be afraid to move
Your faith is all it takes, and you can walk on the water
Walk on the water, too.

The thing I like about this song is that it says that I can walk on the water. It doesn't just tell me to do it or that only a few people can, it says, "You can do it! It is possible for you to repent!" That's very comforting to know. I encourage you to listen to her music and try to pull a message out of it. Try listening to The Lost Get Found, Set The World On Fire (Not literally), and all of her others. I hope this I did something worthwhile writing this. Thank-you for reading.

Britt Nicole

Britt Nicole is one of the most Amazing artists I have ever heard. She's a christian artist who says that she was called by God to go into ministry. The way she is doing this is through music. I do not doubt what she says in the least. Revelation exists today and that includes personal revelation. We are all called to do this, the best example is probably missionary work. But anyway, she's an inspiring artist. It doesn't matter what religion you belong to, it's all inspiring. Heck, you can be atheist and still pull some inspiration from her songs. Her songs have so much meaning in them that it will make head spin. You should probably expect A LOT of interpretations of her songs in the near future.

Lyric Interpretations- The Adventure

This is, by far, one of my most favorite songs. Now only is the tune great, but the lyrics are deep, well-written, and they have an actual meaning.

The Adventure is an alternative rock song by the Band Angels and Airwaves. If you have ever heard Blink-182, you should recognize the vocals of Tom Delonge, the front-man of Blink-182. This song is the fourth track from their debut album "We Don't Need To Whisper," which came out on May 23, 2006. It is also their first single.

Now for the interpretation.

I wanna have the same last dream again
The one where I wake up and I'm alive

<(This is saying how he wants to have that feeling of being alive and free after
 having a sense of hopelessness)>

Just as the four walls close me within
My eyes are open up with pure sunlight

<(This is describing the hopelessness. A feeling that you can't solve your problems.
He now sees the truth. He now knows that you really can be saved, cleansed, and free.)>

I'm the first to know
My dearest friends
Even if your hope has burned with time
Anything that is dead shall be re-grown
And your vicious pain, your warning sign
You will be fine

<(He telling his friends, "Hey, even if you have lost all hope, it will be revived.
" Let's say this is about addiction or some other sin. If you feel a pain that says you
shouldn't be doing this, that's a warning. It could be guilt, fear, or just an uncomfortabl
feeling. If you feel this, and you act upon it, you're going to be fine.)>

Hey oh here I am
And here we go
Life's waiting to begin

<(Here I am. I am ready for my life to addicted to something, you don't really
have a life. Addiction is your life. He's telling everyone that life is waiting, go live it.)>

Any type of love it will be shown
Like every single tree reach for the sky

<( Love unites us, and we are all trying to reach a goal, Heaven. Everyone, like
a tree, is trying to reach the sky, which is Heaven. Love gets us there, or
 at least makes it easier.)>

If you're gonna fall
I'll let you know
That I will pick you up
Like you for I

<(If you fall from sin, I will be there for you every step afterwords always.
I will help you repent, be strong, and feel loved. All that I ask in return is
that you do the same for me.)>

I felt this thing
I can't replace

<(He has a feeling he can never deny.)>

Where everyone was working for this goal
Where all the children left without a trace
Only to come back as pure as gold

<(These are the hardest lines to interpret. I think it means that while
everyone was working for something, a few people lost themselves
to sin, but then they defeated the addiction or other sin and repented,
and they came out of it all stronger than before.)>

To recite these lines

<(They're telling everyone what happened. Remember, smart people learn
from there mistakes, but wise people learn from others.)>

Hey oh here I am
And here we go
Life's waiting to begin
Tonight
Hey oh here I am
And here we go
Life's waiting to begin
Tonight
Hey oh here I am
And here we go
Life's waiting to begin

I can not live
I can't breathe
Unless you do this with me
I can not live
I can't breathe
Unless you do this with me
I can not live
I can't breathe
Unless you do this with me
I can not live
I can't breathe
Unless you do this with me
I can not live
I can't breathe
Unless you do this with me
I can not live
I can't breathe
Unless you do this with me

<(I can not go through life without your help. I need you.)>

Hey oh, here I am (do this with me)
Here we go
Life's waiting to begin (do this with me)
Hey oh, here I am (do this with me)
Here we go
Life's waiting to begin
Life's waiting to begin

<(Two past lines make a new meaning. He's now saying that life is ready
to be lived, and that he wants this other person to live life with him.
'Life is not worth living alone.)>

Such an Amazing song. I'll probably be doing an interpretation on the song "Everything's Magic" by the same artist very soon. Thanks for reading.

I Take It Back

In the Book "100 Things You're not Supposed To Know", there is some pretty nasty stuff in there. Those nasty articles got cut from the book by the means of a razor-blade. Since the article on the police was on the website. I assumed that everything else was on there. I was wrong though. So instead be warned, it's a whole lot of political malarkey (No offense Bradley. Your stuff is interesting. It's the stuff on the website, CNN, and other talk-shows that are boring.)

Freewill by Rush

The ongoing band Rush is a Canadian progressive rock band formed in 1968. It is composed of bassist and keyboardist Geddy Lee, Guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. This band has been playing for all these years, except for the five-year hiatus that occurred from 1997 to 2005. The song Freewill is a song contained on the 1980 album "Permanent Waves."

I know I'm quite cheap for doing this, but Wikipedia explains this easily.

The song's lyrics deal with the subject of free will, emphasizing that free will is not a gift but rather a choice; explaining that Man can attempt to evade the fact that he must choose, but that evasion is itself a choice.

The only thing I don't agree with is the gift part. Free will is basically a gift. But everything else is true. "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice" says Rush in there song. This song basically says it all for you, so I see no point in giving out an interpretation. You just need to now these three things-

Malign means evil and spiteful.
Preordained is like being called to something before life. It's sorta like destiny.
Lotus Land is a reference to The Odyssey. The crew came to a place where a plant called a lotus grew. The men who ate the lotus forgot everything about

Actually, here is the chorus. I'll interpret that-

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose freewill.

These lyrics are saying that whatever you believe in, whether it be multiple Gods, one God, a Goddess, Allah, or whatever you believe in, you can take on there counsel and take on responsibility for your own actions. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. I think that's pretty straightforward. This next line is the most difficult one to interpret. I think a phantom fear is a fear that you don't quite grasp, a fear that is inconceivable or maybe even pointless. Kindness that can kill means being overly kind or kindness that annoys people. I think the term in this song just refers to being overly kind. So you can either choose to be afraid and give up on life or make the best of this life and do what was meant to be done. The last line again, is pretty obvious as well. Making the right choices using free will equals freedom and more free will.

Now go and listen to the song. It's AWESOME!

A quick note.

For all of those who read my post on rap, I don't listen to Lil' Wayne or Ludacris or any of those other artists. Just B.o.B.

The police aren't legally obligated to protect you. Wait, what?

In the book, "100 Things You're not supposed to know", Russ kick gives us some startling news. Apparently, the police are not oligated to protecting you from any danger, even murder. Yes, I know this sounds retarded, but many cities and even congress have made this ruling. Since this book was made in 2003, Congress may have changed it's mind, but the past stays the same. Even when a double murder has been committed, it has been ruled by courts that the police have no responsibility.

WHAT THE FREAKING HECK?!!!! Is this a joke? I can not believe somebody would say such a thing! SHAME ON THEM!

So, what are your opinions on this? You probably know how I feel, but I want to know what you think. Is this blasphemous? Or is it reasonable? Don't worry, I won't criticize, so please comment!

I would especially like to see your opinion on this Bradley, since you apparently have an opinion on this stuff. Make it as long as you want. But please COMMENT.

Oh, and here's the section I read from the book. Apparently, he has a website.
http://www.disinfo.com/2010/03/the-police-arent-legally-obligated-to-protect-you/

If you search around other sections on that site, be forewarned, there are some nasty things on there.

Rap: Good or Evil?

Today, my friend Austin told me that a General Authority of the Church said that rap music was not music. He had no idea which authority said this, claiming that his seminary teacher told him this, which I don't doubt. So, in order to understand just what exactly the problem was with rap, I kept asking him, "Why is rap not music?" He never gave me a real answer, saying, "The Prophet tells us so" (which technically wasn't true entirely) or "It drives away the spirit." Now, these are good answers. The Prophet tells us not to listen to music that is vulgar, which is what most rap is. That is true. And it's true that vulgar things drive away the spirit. But, they are not specific enough- wait, now that I think about it, it is. Dang it! But anyway, he still implied that ALL rap is not music, which is untrue. B.o.B. makes great music. Yes, there are some songs that swear very mildly. (Which I try to find edited versions of. I HATE swearing.) But he sings about things that matter, which is what songs are for. It is also true that most rap artists, Like Ludacris, only talk about sex and there most appropriate songs are about drugs. It is also true that, like Eminem, they swear a lot. Me, being very stubborn, tried to get this through his head. He soon got very ticked of and told me to be quiet while he searched for the talk. He didn't find it. This made him even more mad. Then, just as when I thought things couldn't get any worse, his dad told him that rap can be good and that there was even a funny song that he liked by some band that I guess my friend knew of as well. I think at this point, since his own father disagreed with him, my friend was pretty furious. Adding to his anger, I, being the one who doesn't let go of things quickly, pointed out the fact that one of his favorite artists, Weird Al Yankovic, parodied a rap song, which came out as White And Nerdy. Very much enraged by now, or maybe heart-broken or something like that, Austin got up and hurried downstairs to be alone. It was then that I realized just how foolish I had been. Just how important had this argument been? Not very. Did it matter that I had won, assuming I had? No, it hadn't. Why didn't I just let it go? Because I wanted to be right. Why was I so insistent on being right? Because I didn't want to be wrong. I was so sure I was right though! The truth was though is that neither of us were right or wrong. We each had an opinion. About ten minutes later, Austin came up and apologized. I'm not quite sure for what, but he did. I apologized as well, saying that I had made a very foolish decision. We forgave each other and everything was normal again.

So, other than to teach you a lesson in letting things go, I want to know, is rap good or evil? In my opinion, rap can be good, but people such as Ludacris and Lil' Wayne give rap a bad reputation and artists like Eminem need to stop swearing all the time. If he were to do that and cut out some other things that are inappropriate, he would be amazing. So, in conclusion, comment and read the next post.

Thank-you for reading!

Just for the sake of being random, I asked my cousin, who listens to much rap, what the most appropriate song by Ludacris is. He named some song like "Bubble-Gum Pop" or something like that.
"Oh wait, he said, that one's about drugs."
SERIOUSLY? An artist's most appropriate song is about drugs? That's insane!

Lyric interpretations- Disturbia

NOTICE- None of this is Plagiarized in this. I wrote all of this. (Well, the lyrics are not by me, but you get the point.)

The song Disturbia is sung by Barbadian (of Barbados) singer Rihanna. If you look at her album on iTunes, You can see that every song, except for Russian Roulette and Disturbia are categorized as "explicit." Now what I'm about to say is mostly an opinion, something that I can not back up, since I've only heard two songs by her. But when I first heard this song, I was like, Wow, a song that is actually good by her. This is not the case. It is good, in fact, it's brilliant, but it's not by Rihanna. It's by Andre Merritt, Chris Brown, and Robert Allen. Chris Brown felt that the song song should be sung by a female, so he gave it to Rihanna to sing. So, until today, October 11, 2010, I thought that no other song by Rihanna was good or appropriate. She revived herself with Russian Roulette, but more of that later. Like I said, I can't be sure if ALL of Rihanna's songs (except for the two) are appropriate, but that's my assumption.

So anyway, that's the history of the song. And now, here are the lyrics and my interpretation. For those of you who don't like ANYTHING that is religious, sorry, but it is. It's not too religious, but it's there.

<(-If words are surrounded like this, that's me talking-)>

Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
 (What's wrong with me?)
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
(Why do I feel like this?)
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
(I'm going crazy now)
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
<(-She's asking some questions that many people ask when they're in a situation like this. It's also true that you feel like you're going crazy.-)>

No more gas in the rig
Can't even get it started

<(-This probably means that she wants to die, but can't-)>

Nothing heard, nothing said
Can't even speak about it

<(-She wants to tell someone what's happening, but she's being held back.-)>

All my life on my head
Don't want to think about it

<(-She's got all of these problems she's created, and she doesn't want to face the reality; She has a problem-)>

Feels like I'm going insane
Yeah

<(-What is the problem exactly that is making her insane? Satan's sinister ability to hook someone with addiction. And now, she's stuck in his trap.-)>

HOOK

It's a thief in the night
To come and grab you

<(- This is meaning to say that addiction grips you without your realizing it, and that it "steals your soul and character.-)>

It can creep up inside you
And consume you

<(-Again, you never realize it. By the time you do though, it's taken complete control over you and your life.-)>

A disease of the mind
It can control you

<(-General authorities of the church say you should avoid pornography and other addictions like a plague. This line is telling you that. Pornography is a disease of the mind. It can control you. You are not you when you have an addiction.-)>

It's too close for comfort

 <(-Addictions are not pleasant.-)>

CHORUS
Put on your pretty lies
We're in the city of wonder

<(-Addiction, things like Pornography seem great at first, but you soon realize that it isn't. You soon use lies to hide your actions.-)>

Ain't gonna play nice
Watch out you might just go under

<(-Pornography does not friendly. It's viscous and spiteful. If you don't watch what you're doing and don't stay strong. You WILL fall.-)>

Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered

<(-Before you do what you're going to do, think twice. Is what you're doing really going to be worth it? If you go through with this, you will be changed FOREVER.-)>

So if you must falter be wise

<(-If you DID go through with this retarded action, do what you can to get out and don't go any more deeper with this.-)>

Your mind is in disturbia
It's like the darkness is the light

<(-Disturbia is that sickness described earlier. The darkness that is trapped in your mind. The evil that you freely let settle in down. The thoughts that rot. The wrong becomes harder to determine. Wrong has become your companion. You feel hopeless.-)>

Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight?

<(-You should be. Addiction is a scary thing. <Until you realize that you repent, it IS scary.>-)>

Your mind is in disturbia
Ain't used to what you like

<(-You WILL NOT like the addiction, I can guarantee it. You may like it for the moment, but that is only temporary. You are not like this addiction. The addiction IS NOT you.-)>

Disturbia
Disturbia

Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum

Faded pictures on the wall
It's like they talkin' to me

<(-You're remembering the good times. It's like the memories are talking to you. You want to go back to these good times.-)>

Disconnectin unknown calls
Your phone don't even ring

<(-This could mean two things. Either you've stopped praying and you feel God has stop trying to talk to you (which isn't true, he's trying his best to talk to you.) Or, you're getting distant from those you love.-)>

I gotta get out
Or figure this **** out

<(-I think the lyrics say "Oh" instead of "Or." It works better too. Realization kicks in. You need to stop  what you're doing and get out of trouble. You have to figure things out as well before you go and repent.-)>

It's too close for comfort

It's a thief in the night
To come and grab you
It can creep up inside you
And consume you
A disease of the mind
It can control you
I feel like a monster

<(-This part differs because she says she fell like a monster. It's true, that feeling. You feel that you've become something terrible through Satan and his lies-)>

Put on your pretty lies
We're in the city of wonder
Ain't gonna play nice
Watch out you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise
Your mind is in disturbia
It's like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight?
Your mind is in disturbia
Ain't used to what you like
Disturbia
Disturbia

Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum

Release me from this curse I'm in
Trying to maintain
But I'm struggling

<(-She want's to repent, be free from addiction, and stay strong, but she's struggling.-)>

If you can go go go
I think I'm going, ah ah ah

<(-I'm not quite sure this is right. I think she's saying she needs this other's help.)>

Put on your pretty lies
We're in the city of wonder
Ain't gonna play nice
Watch out you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise
Your mind is in disturbia
It's like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight?
Your mind is in disturbia
Ain't used to what you like
Disturbia
Disturbia

Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum

And there you have it, my interpretation of Disturbia. Thank-you for reading. This took me awhile to write, so I hope it was worth it.

Here's a youtube link to a video. Don't know if the lyrics are accurate though. Oh well.
